Water Quality Testing
Should I Have My Water Tested?
The answer to this question depends on several factors. It concerns your health and the health of your family, so you need to know some basic facts. In addition to illness, a variety of less serious problems such as taste, color, odor and staining of clothes or fixtures are signs of possible water quality problems. Other things to think about include the nearness of your water well to septic systems and the composition of your home’s plumbing materials.
Having your water tested is a great way to help assure your family's safety and well being and get started on the right foot in your new home!
Radon Testing
Radon is a naturally-occurring radioactive gas that is commonly found in bedrock and in water from bedrock (drilled) wells in New Hampshire. Radon gas is colorless, odorless and tasteless. Radon gas finds its way into indoor air mainly by migrating from bedrock, through the soil and into the home via cracks or other openings in the foundation.
Testing takes a minimum of 48 hours, with a maximum of 96 hours. The test can be started 2 to 4 days prior to the inspection with collection during the inspection, or at the end of the inspection and retrieved 2 to 4 days later. We will contact your realtor to coordinate access to place or retrieve the test. Windows must be closed 12 hours before the test begins and throughout the duration of the test.
Septic System Inspection
Your septic tank needs to be pumped out and inspected on a regular basis.
Working Dog Home Inspection, LLC can collaborate with a trusted septic inspector to have the system inspected during your home inspection. This is a separate transaction in addition to the home inspection.
